# Identity Match

> Verify that a user is the legitimate owner of a connected bank account by comparing their identity information to account owner data.

The [Identity Match](/api-reference/platform-api/v20260929/reference/identity-match/identity-match) endpoint returns an overall confidence score and individual scores for the user's name, address, phone number, and email.

## Identity Match Workflow

Before you can use Identity Match, you must work with MX to enable it.

Identity Match requires account owner data. Include `identity_verification` in the `data_request.products` array when:

* Initializing the Connect Widget
* Creating a member through the Create Member request

### Steps

1. Create a member with `identity_verification` in the `data_request.products` array.
2. MX retrieves account owner data from the bank.
3. Submit an [Identity Match](/api-reference/platform-api/v20260929/reference/identity-match/identity-match) request with the user's identity information.
4. Receive confidence scores comparing the submitted data to account owner data.

## Identity Match Score Ranges

Confidence scores range from 0-1.

| User Information | 0-0.59 | 0.6-0.69 | 0.7-0.89 | 0.9-0.99 | 1.0 |
| - | - | - | - | - | - |
| Name | No match | Partial match | Partial match | Match | Match |
| Address | No match | Partial match | Partial match | Match | Match |
| Phone Number | No match | N/A | N/A | N/A | Match |
| Email | No match | N/A | N/A | N/A | Match |

All scores are rounded to four decimal places. Every individual score is always returned. A score of `0` means there's no match for that field.

## Identity Match with Multiple Account Owners

When a member has multiple account owner records, such as on joint accounts or across multiple accounts under the same credentials, Identity Match:

1. Compares the submitted identity information against each account owner associated with the member.
2. Selects the best match. If multiple account owners partially match, the highest-scoring account owner is selected.
3. Returns scores for that single account owner. If no account owner meets the confidence threshold, the response contains the scores of the highest-scoring account owner.
