# Transactions

## How To Edit a Transaction's Details

1. Open the menu, select **Transactions**, then select a transaction.
2. On the transaction detail screen, make your desired changes:
   * To change the payee's name, select the payee's name at the top of the screen, enter a new name, and save your changes.
   * To change the transaction's category,
   * To change the transaction's date, select Date, select the month and day you want to change the transaction to, and then apply your changes.
   * To add or change a memo, select Memo, type your memo into the field, then save your changes.
   * To add or change a tag, select Tags, add a new tag or select an existing one, then apply your changes.

## How To Fix an Uncategorized Transaction

1. Open the menu, then select **Transactions**.
2. A notification at the top shows your uncategorized transactions. If you select it, you'll see a list of all your uncategorized transactions.
3. Select an uncategorized transaction.
4. Select **Category**. The field will say **Uncategorized**.
5. Select a category for that transaction. If you’d like to be more specific, select the expand icon to show subcategories. You can create a new subcategory by selecting **Add New Subcategory** and then giving it a name.
6. When you select a category, a message may pop up asking if you want transactions at the same merchant to automatically have the same category applied to them for all past and future transactions. Select **Apply To All** if you’d like to accept the category rule, or **This Time Only** to apply it to only this transaction.

## How To Recategorize a Transaction

1. Open the menu, then select **Transactions**.
2. Select a transaction from the list to bring up its details.
3. Select **Category**. The field will be labeled with the assigned category.
4. Select a new category for that transaction.
5. When you select a category, a message may pop up asking if you want transactions at the same merchant to automatically have the same category applied to them for all past and future transactions. Select **Apply To All** if you’d like to accept the category rule, or **This Time Only** to apply it to only this transaction.

## How To Flag a Transaction

Flagging allows you to mark a transaction as important. It will show a flag underneath that transaction on the screen where all transactions are listed. It doesn’t alert anyone except you about the transaction.

1. Open the menu, then select **Transactions**.
2. Select a transaction.
3. Select the flag icon. It will turn yellow when it's flagged.
4. To unflag the transaction, select the icon again.

## How To Hide a Transaction

Hiding a transaction will ignore that transaction in other features like Budgets and Net Worth. The transaction won’t be deleted and can be unhidden later.

1. Open the menu, then select **Transactions**.
2. Select a transaction.
3. Select **Hide Transaction**.
4. To confirm, select **Hide**.

## How To Split a Transaction

Splitting a transaction lets you put part of it in one category and part in another, like a Costco transaction that you split into “Groceries” for the food portion and “Electronics” for that TV you bought.

1. Open the menu, then select **Transactions**.
2. Select a transaction.
3. Select **Split Transaction**.
4. To split it into more than two, select **Add another split**.
5. Select **Category** to select a category for each part of the split.
6. Enter an amount for each part of the split.
7. Select **Save**.

Each split will now appear as its own categorized transaction.

## How To Edit a Transaction Rule

1. Open the menu, then select **Settings**.
2. Select **Transaction Rules**.
3. In Transaction Rules, select **Change Payee To** and type in a new name.
4. Select **Change Category To** and select a new category.

## How To Delete a Transaction Rule

1. Open the menu, then select **Settings**.
2. Select **Transaction Rules**.
3. Select a rule.
4. Select the delete icon.
5. Select **Delete**.

  Deleting a rule will not affect any past transactions that have already been categorized by that rule.
