Best Practices
Follow these best practices to maximize your results from Personal Finance Management.
Engage Users
To increase user engagement with the Money Dashboard Widget, follow these steps:
- Create a dedicated page for the full Money Dashboard Widget in a highly accessible area of your site or app. Avoid creating this page in a low-traffic area or nesting it in other pages.
- Embed multiple instances of clearly labeled Mini or Micro Widgets on your main landing page or in high-traffic areas. Avoid low-traffic areas or nested pages. These smaller widgets serve as entry points to the full widget.
- Deep link the embedded Mini or Micro Widget to the corresponding full widget in the Money Dashboard. You can learn how to create a deep link in our documentation about integrating widgets.
This gives your users a brief glimpse into their financial activity the moment they log on, prompting them to take a deeper dive into the full Money Dashboard experience.
Widget Quick Tips
Keep these guidelines in mind when designing your PFM experience:
- Our widgets include headers; you won't need to add your own.
- When displaying the Money Dashboard widget, set your iFrame's width and height to 100%.
- Don't restrict the available browser width by adding margins or padding. Restricting browser width can introduce multiple scroll bars.
Widget Theming
For all non-legacy widgets, you can change your widget theme to match your institution's branding with our widget theming options.
There are expanded theming capabilities available for the Money Dashboard Widget. Learn more about these in our Money Dashboard Widget guide.
Track Metrics
Measure your results and keep improving. Here are some key metrics to monitor:
- Monthly active users: How many users are active each month?
- Percent of active adopted users: What percentage of users who've used the PFM widgets are still active?
- Account balances: How many users have average account balances that can inform deposit growth campaigns?
