Customer Segments
The Customer Segments category provides a series of dashboards to help identify your users' behaviors, needs, and more for your marketing campaigns.
Current Customer Snapshot
This dashboard provides insights from your current customers as you create audiences to find new customers. Build audiences on social media platforms to discover new customers.
Use the dropdown menus to filter by account type, account subtype, and internal account status.
This report includes the following sections:
- Account holder demographics for selected account type
- Generation and affinity
- Income
- Spending
- Other accounts
Account holder demographics for selected account type
| Data | Description |
|---|---|
| User count | The total number of users with the selected account type. |
| Total accounts | The total number of accounts of the selected type. (Accounts with multiple owners may be counted multiple times.) |
| Average number of accounts per user | The average number of accounts (of the selected type) per user. |
| Account count distribution (number of users) | Each bar represents the number of users with the specified number of accounts (of the selected type). |
| Average balance per account | The average balance in each account (of the selected type). |
| Account balance distribution (number of accounts) | Each bar represents the number of accounts (of the selected type) with the specified balance range. |
Generation and affinity
- User by generation: The number of users with accounts of the selected type in each generation. (Account holders without birth dates are included in the Unknown total.)
- Users by customer affinity: The number of users with the selected account type for each observed spending affinity type. Users with no strong spending affinity are excluded.
Income
- Estimated average monthly income: Average monthly income, per user, as estimated from transaction data.
- Estimated monthly income distribution (number of users): Each bar represents the number of users (with accounts of the selected type) with estimated monthly income within the specified range. Users whose monthly income couldn't be calculated are excluded.
- Top 15 estimated monthly income sources: The top 15 sources of estimated income for the users. Shown as an aggregate of all income across all accounts (regardless of type) of all users (with selected account types).
Spending

| Top 10 food/dining merchants | The top 10 merchants, by total amount spent, in food and dining categories. |
| Top 10 entertainment merchants | The top 10 merchants, by total amount spent, in entertainment categories. |
| Top 10 travel merchants | The top 10 merchants, by total amount spent, in travel categories. |
Other accounts

| Number of other types of account (top 10) | The number of other types of accounts (both internally held and aggregated accounts) held by users with the selected account type. |
| Where else do these customers have aggregated accounts? (top 15) | Top 15, by number of accounts, outside financial institutions/fintechs from which users with the selected account types have aggregated accounts. |
| Where else do the customers have discovered accounts? (top 15) | Top 15, by number of accounts, outside financial institutions/fintechs from which MX has discovered an account in the transaction data of users with the selected account types (across all accounts). |
| Top 10 crypto exchanges used (in the past year) | Top 10 cryptocurrency exchanges, by total absolute transaction amount, with which users with the selected account types have transacted (across all accounts). |
Pre-Built Audiences
View pre-built audiences that you can use to immediately launch campaigns across several different business lines.

| Number of unique customers | The total number of unique customers. This number will change as you refine the audience. |
| Lines of business | Use this to filter the predefined Retail Audiences by the high-level line of business. |
| Customer count by audience | The number of customers that fit into each Retail Audience. |
| Predefined audiences | Use this to filter the predefined Retail Audiences by specific predefined retail audience(s). |
Customize audience with segment filters
Use the filters that follow to generate a list of users for export. Selecting different filters also generates new results in the Distinct users by generation and Distinct users by spending affinity charts.

| Direct deposit indicator | Refine the audience by whether the customer has received a direct deposit in the past month. |
| 1-month login indicator | Refine the audience by whether the customer has logged on to an MX product in the past month. |
| 3-month login indicator | Refine the audience by whether the customer has logged on to an MX product in the past 3 months. |
| Adoption status | Refine the audience by the customer's Adoption Status. |
| Generation | Use this to further refine the audience by the customer's Generation. |
| Affinity segment | Refine the audience by the customer's MX Affinity Segment. |
| Distinct users by generation | The number of users in the selected audience in each generation. |
| Distinct users by affinity segment | The number of users in the selected audience in each MX-defined Affinity Segment. |
| External checking indicator | Refine the audience by whether the customer has an external checking account (aggregated). |
| External savings indicator | Refine the audience by whether the customer has an external savings account (aggregated). |
| External credit card indicator | Refine the audience by whether the customer has an external credit card account (aggregated or discovered). |
| External investment indicator | Refine the audience by whether the customer has an external investment account (aggregated or discovered). |
| County | Refine by the county where the customer lives or transacts business. |
| State | Refine by the state where the customer lives or transacts business. |
| Zip code | Refine by the zip code where the customer lives or transacts business. |
| Export list | An exportable list of the customers in the audience, along with demographic information. |
User List
Generate and export a list of users by selecting from the following filters.
- External user GUID
- Alternate external user GUID
- Number of internal accounts
- Number of external accounts
- PFM/Mobile event days (past 90 days)
- Most recent event date
- User created date
Export List
The export list provides customer-level data. These lists can be filtered to include or exclude specific details related to external relationships, account and customer demographics, and digital engagement.
External Relationship Filter
Use this section to learn more about specific customers. Use the Yes or No buttons to filter a specific type of customer in or out of your export list. For example, in the Aggregated checking box, select Yes to include customers that have connected a checking account. Additionally, use the dropdown menu to filter a specific checking account provider in or out of your export list.
Note that selecting a filter will filter every other selection throughout this report.
Select the Export customer list button to download the list you generate.

Account/Customer demographic filters

Digital engagement filters
