Budgets

Budgets lets end users create and manage their budgets.

The app automatically creates budgets based on how users spent their money over the last 90 days. Budgets are customizable. Users can change existing budgets or add new ones.

End users can navigate to the Budgets card on the dashboard and to the full Budgets view from there or from the navigation menu.

The bubbles are interactive. Users can tap and drag them.

When a user first opens this widget, they have two options:

Select Auto-generate Budgets. This requires there to be transactions in the same category for the previous two months.

Select Start From Scratch.

In the Budgets Widget, end users can:

  • Auto-generate a budget based on the user’s average spending in each category over the last two months for which there is complete data. This feature works best if the user has first added all their accounts and accurately categorized their transactions.
  • Manually create a budget.
  • View budgets as bubbles that change color and size depending on the amount of money and if the budget has been exceeded or not.
  • Filter accounts to view bubble budgets.
  • View bubble budgets of current or previous months. The color of each budget indicates whether the user is on track, nearing their budget limit, or over the limit:
    • Green = less than 80%
    • Yellow = from 80–100%
    • Red = over 100%
  • Select a bubble budget and:
    • View the transactions associated with the budget.
    • Edit the budget’s amount.
    • Add a new sub-budget.
  • Delete a budget.
  • Change their monthly projected income.
  • Recalculate their budgets if they seem to be incorrect or if they want to take advantage of automatically created budgets. Recalculation is based on the user’s last two months for which complete data is available. If users don't like how their budgets were recalculated, they can revert the changes.
